How to make things more user-friendly

Hi,

I have read answers about this error message: Failed to save target content because "illustration was moved between paragraphs". This after I had merged and splitted segments to get whole sentences.

The tag is: <shapename="number">, and in the source PDF it seems to be a paragraph mark.

At least, please, tell your online help, who helps you to activate this function, to warn users when using merge/split segments: Never touch segments having tags.

It cannot be, that because of this stupid mistake regarding two segments (among thousands of them), I cannot proceed, because I cannot Save Target As!

Instead, I had to start from scratch, with the original pdf file.

Best,

Seija

  • Hi Paul,

thank you for the answer. Users I know did not tell me not to translate a PDF file. Are there PDF files of different quality, I guess so.

How can I find those tricky things after I have cleaned a PDF up to a DOCX, in the resulting DOCX file?

    1. Clean PDF files up to a DOCX first and "remove the things that make PDF files tricky".

    2. There are so many forums, this works.

However, I wish you advice your clients to avoid tagged segments. I had managed to merge and split tagged segments indeed, no problem with saving the target, until that one change.

Does it help to resolve this problem, if I'll send you the part that caused it?

    Best regards,

    Seija
