SDL Trados 2019 target segments suddenly populated with source text - need to clear the unconfirmed segments

Hi there,

As the description states, my target segments are populated with source text and it's horribly annoying to have to clear each segment now first. Is there a faster way?

I did a pretranslate batch task, but only for 100% matches, and auto-propogate is only on for 100% matches.

What happened?

Thanks!

  • I expect that when you did your pre-translate, you had the option selected to 'copy source to target when no match found'. You can find this in Batch processing when setting up the batch task to pre-translate.

Open the file in Editor view and go to Review tab and use Display Filter to display only unconfirmed segments, then you'll be able to see if they are all 'source'. If you ensure you are at the top of the displayed segments, then at the top of the segment number column on the left there should be a small empty block. Click on it and all segments will be selected (only those displayed, so NOT your pre-translated segments). Now right click one of the segment numbers and click option Clear target segment. Finally, on menu ribbon, Clear Filter and there you are.

Hope all works out for you. Simon
