If by "apps" you mean plug-ins, this is what I have 

Finally, this is the screenshot where I circled (or squared) the consequence of my Find and Replace. Honestly, I tried to replicate the problem with another Find and Replace and then hitting Replace All, but it did not happen, hence it is not a predictable behaviour. To give you a better idea of the work environment, I am working on a packet I received from a customer, where in the Project setting, the Edit Source option is greyed out and unticked, so I can only suppose, the source should be protected against editing, but somehow my Replace All overrid that setting. See second screen below

I have certainly never seen this strange behaviour before in Studio- Search and Replace.

Would you be able to perhaps share the package with me (swhale@sdl.com) and I will see if I can reproduce this.

I think you're going to have to tell us how to reproduce this and if you can't there is probably nothing we can do to help here.  I have seen this behaviour a long time ago... maybe Studio 2015... but I've never come across this since.  To search & replace the source you would need to use an app, something like the SDLXLIFF Toolkit for example.

As I said above, I tried to replicate the behaviour and it did not happen again. I also showed the plug-ins I have, which have nothing to do with the apps you are talking about. Please note, I have started using Studio 1.5 years ago and do not need any apps for my work. I would delete those plug-ins if I knew how, because I don't really need and use them, so there was no software conflict if that is what you are implying. I am more keen on thinking that it depends on the Project setting for edit source being greyed out, which might have misbehaved.

Right now, I am really not concerned with what happened as much as I am concerned about fixing the source text. Any ideas?

You either enable “Edit Source” as explained to you already, or use something like the SDLXLIFF Toolkit from the AppStore that supports search and replace in the source.
