Hidden rows in BILINGUAL excel

Hello guys ...
Please, would You help me with this file ... ?

I do know I can set trados to see the hidden content of a normal excel file BUT, there is no such a option in the bilingual file type.

Now, what if I have such a terrible file like this ???

Screenshot of an Excel file with hidden rows indicated by a plus symbol. The visible rows include descriptions of parts for a Ladle Furnace Twin. The user's comment about the issue with hidden content in Trados is visible at the top.

I mean ... it is not a problem if some part is already translated or not (I can use regex not find english in target segments etc

BUT my problem is the + symbol and relative hidden rows ... I did import this file as a bilingual excel BUT I do NOT see all the rows in it ...

File is huge, and I have many like this ... But in theory I did set the right columns for bilingual translations ... my only problem is that (+) and + inside + etc Smile

This particular file has for exampl 875 row ... I do see in trados ONLY 159. This is not good!

MANY THANKS
Pietro Slight smile

  • Hi Paul!
Well ... this was super COOL !!!

So, I did that ... And now I do have (almost) ALL my rows in my Studio editor ... (have to check... as well I have to see if finishing the translation all that + will be saved). Btw it was super interesting!

    So, my process was this:

    1. I used Macro to expand all,
    2. I saved a XLSM and a brand NEW XLSX.file with all row expanded,
    3. I did import THAT new xlsx file into Studio ...

Excel macro window showing 'CollapsToMinimum' and 'ExpandToMaximum' macros with a spreadsheet in the background displaying 'MATERIAL HANDLING SYSTEM MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT' details.

I do see now 756 TU (strange, there where 875) ... but Iwill try to understand!
    Thank You a lot!
    Pietro

    P.S.
Of course I did save my .bas files as ell, for future use!
A webpage with instructions on using VBA macros to collapse or expand groupings in Excel, showing code snippets for 'CollapsToMinimum()' and 'ExpandToMaximum()' functions.
