SDL Studio 2019 lookup is extremely slow + Studio crashes frequently

Dear colleagues,

Hope you're well today!

After several months of using SDL Studio 2019, I have to write some feedback. Unfortunately, the feedback is negative. For some reason, lookup for matches of larger segments in larger TMs is extremely, painfully slow, sometimes taking up to 4-5 MINUTES.

In addition to that, Studio frequently freezes and then shuts down with no error message at all. By frequently, I mean this has happened every day I've used the software for months now. I've never had any of these issues with SDL Studio 2017, and I used it for years.

Could you please help me solve these issues? It is extremely frustrating to have my work process hindered so much.

Thanks and kind regards,
Pavel

  • Hello,

I am honestly appalled with the ostensible lack of support from SDL. It's been almost two weeks since I posted this issue and I have received no further replies. It is a disgrace that SDL is delegating their support functions to the community, rather than taking responsibility for their product.

I've worked with a vast array of software applications in my life, from translation and localization through image editing to electronic music production, and SDL Studio 2019 is *by far* the worst performer. It has crashed three times today already and I am not halfway through my work day.

If anyone knows any way to get support directly from SDL, please help by sharing it here. I am awfully disappointed with SDL's evident complete lack of interest in the satisfaction of their users.

  • SDL have a full technical support capability if you have paid for a support contract.  I assume you have not or you wouldn't be resorting to the free forums for help where there isn't a guarantee of any help at all, although we do our best as do many of users in here who chip in to offer their experience.

Having said this, our technical teams do offer a route for assistance if you have licensing or installation issues that prevent you from working satisfactorily.  Before you do this however there are some obvious things to check:

    1. make sure you have upgraded your TMs
    2. make sure you have reindexed them

Both of these things might have an impact on the performance you are experiencing.  But if this doesn't help then log a case on the basis that you are unable to work with your TMs in 2019, whereas you were in 2017.

    You have two options:

    1. Submit a case using a webform
    2. Use live chat to get a licence reset

You want to use the first option and make sure that you refer to this thread so the teams can see what you have tried already.
