The way to tackle this woud be to align the source and target files into a TM before you start. Then you would not need to do much as they would be added automatically when you pre-translate your file.

I face the same issue. How are the source and target files aligned? Could you please, specify the method? Many thanks in advance!
You don't mention which version of Studio you are using so here's he product help for 2021:
https://docs.sdl.com/813470/673714/sdl-trados-studio-2021/aligning-files
If that doesn't help then take a look in the product help for your version.

Thanks so much! I have actually found your very useful video on alignment!

You mean this one?

That's pretty old now and the alignment module has improved a lot since those days. But if you're using an older version of Studio it probably does have some value.

Yes, that's the one! I use the 2019 version, still, it was very useful, as it guided me what to look for, and a lot of things work quite similar, so it was a great help, thank you!
How in gods name does all that help? Its just a technical list of why Align Documents is so cool, not how to do it. As always with Trados, its headache after headache

Presumably you're referring to the product help?

Perhaps if you explain where you're getting suck, also if you are using 2021 as this was for the 2021 version, and also if you watched the video as that may help.

haha. I have run into the same issue. I wonder, why can't I just copy multiple lines of text from word or any other text editor, and then just paste multiple line texts into the multiple lines of translation pane of trados. haha, that will be a nice feature.
It would indeed! But working with a CAT tool is a bit more controlled than Microsoft Word or Excel because of the many different file formats that are supported and because there is often hidden content between the visible segments. So a few reasons, for example:
You may well be dealing with texts that don't contain anything of concern... but how does the tool know this? The best approach is to align your files first, then pre-translate from the TM you create during the alignment.
