I'm not that knowledgeable about InDesign but I think that to prevent these from being extracted at all Studio would need to be able to identify them in some way, and have a setting in Studio to manage this.  Your screenshot shows P+:

If you click on the P+ what other information is in there?

Maybe it's possible to make this content a hidden layer in InDesign before you process the file perhaps?  Then using this option you could exclude it:

I don't know how much control you have over this file, or if you have the right tools and knowledge to manipulate the source file.  But it might just be easier to do what you have done... lock them and then exclude them using the display filter.

ok - I wondered if there might be some unique property you could use to find this text and filter it out already, but it doesn't seem so.

I can explore the option of making that content a hidden layer (or deleting it altogether before processing). Like you said, that may be the same amount of work as simply copying and locking the segments in the XLIFF, but worth a try!

I wonder whether this is something InDesign generated or whether it is content that was copied into the file? Looks like a normal text frame. InDesign does not usually store print information on the pasteboard.

Maybe the author has a script that is copying informaiton from the file onto the pasteboard?

Yes, we get this quite a bit.  I think the designer puts it on the pasteboard. I looked at it in InDesign and it is a regular text frame as you say

I think in this case there is no way for Studio to automatically exclude the text from the editor. I think your best bet is to just copy source to target and lock the segments.
