If you can share the TMX we'll be able to explain why... or if this isn't possible just share the header information and the first TU out of the file itself.

Open the TMX with a text editor and copy it, like this:

So here I copied the header at the top of the file, and then the first TU.  This exercise might also help you see immediately why nothing was imported if the TMX has no TUs!

The TMX looks empty, as you ca see from the right column:

Read: 0 […]

Could you please check that TMX? If you open it any editor like Notepad++, you may see a header but not a single translation unit.

Paul, I got it! Wonderful method! For some reason, the target language showed as "en-gb"!! I've changed the language code at the top of my excel column and the glossary converter recognised it properly now.

There may be nothing wrong with this as that code is a valid language code.  Are you sure this was your problem?

When I created the empty sdltm file I designated the target language to be German, but the tmx file was not created with the right target language. After I fixed that (ensured that it is created with DE as the target language), I was able to import the units.
