Trados Studio 2021 missing file type: Word 2000-2003

Hello,

I have recently bought Studio 2021 and according to the official documentation, it should support Microsoft Word 2000-2003. Yet I don't see it when I go to Options>File Types. There is only Word 97-2003 and Word 2007-2019. Now I'm working on a project and I want to save the translated file, but I get this error message: "Failed to save target content: Cannot find file type definition with id Word 2000-2003 v 1.0.0.0."

What can I do to add this file type to Studio? If I understand correctly, it should have it by default.

  • I'd like to add some clarification to this thread.  There is no need for you to downgrade Studio unless you absolutely wish to be able to create the target file.  The problem you have is that the package has been created by someone using a much older version of Studio than you have.  So whilst you can translate the file and you can create a return package there is no way for you to save the target file.

When you send the translation back to your customer they will be able to create the target file.

I'd also note that you probably don't want to downgrade as the version of that filetype they are using is probably from Studio 2015 or earlier.
