Double clicking doesn't open a package/file in SDL Trados Studio 2021

I recently upgraded to SDL Trados Studio 2021, and since I did the upgrade, I can't double click a project or file to open it in Studio. When I double click, it opens a new Studio window (even if Studio is already launched), and does nothing else. No file, project or prompts show up. I have tried this with .sdlproj/.sdlppx/.sdlxliff files and I always get the same result: an newly opened and empty Studio window.

I can still click Open File/Open Project/Open Package from the Studio window, but it's just not as efficient as simply double clicking a file.

Did I miss something? Would anyone happen to know a fix for this problem?

    The first thing to try when a problem occurs after an update is a Windows Repair of Studio (and maybe MultiTerm).

    Here is how:

    1. Close all SDL applications.
    2. Open the Control Panel:
      • Windows Vista/7: Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
      • Windows 8: Right-click on the screen at bottom-left corner and choose Control Panel > Uninstall a Program.
      • Windows 10: Right-click on Start > Control Panel > Select View by: Small Icons > Programs and Features
      • - or type 'Control Panel' in the search line on your bottom Windows toolbar.
    3. Click/highlight the relevant SDL product from the list (e.g. SDL Trados Studio 2021 etc) and click 'Uninstall/Change' either on the top toolbar or on the right-click dropdown menu, then select > Yes > Repair. Allow it to run. This will take longer for Studio than for the 3 main components of MultiTerm. Do not repair either of the 'Remove suite of products' entries. These are only for uninstalling.
    4. Restart Studio/MultiTerm.
