Is there any way to add comments to Source segments in an SDLXLIFF?

Hi all,

Someone has asked me this question. They'd like to be able to place a comment in the Source segment in order to point out a mistake to the client.

I can't think of a way to achieve this but wondered if anyone else knows of one?

Thanks!

  • Perhaps a couple of workarounds in the meantime ;-)

    1. add a copy of the source file to your project with a different name, then when you need to share comments on the source copy source to target, add your comments and save the target... or

    2. Make the comments in the target and use the export for bilingual review to share them with your customer.

I must admit I'm not a fan of adding this capability to Studio unless it's a trivial task.  But I guess adding the comments is one thing (which may not be trivial since Editor changes always seem to be tricky), but then making the Save Source pick up the comments and include them is another.  But the ideas site is a good idea.
