I don't know how you work... but there are a number ways to work with this using the keyboard.

The preferred method is using autosuggest.  Just type it and this should get you close enough to select in segment.

If that doesn't work for you because you have too many similar fragments and autosuggest doesn't cut it, then you can work with keyboard shortcuts.  First thing to note is you can click this icon to insert a fragment (it's on the right in your view as you have a wide view):

You'll also note this has a keyboard shortcut, which you can change to suit here:

While in here you'll also find this:

This shortcut is not set by default.  I set mine to Ctrl+F1 to test this.  So now I can do this:

Ctrl+F1.............. this gets me into the Fragment list

Arrow down....... this navigates through the matches

Ctrl+Alt+M......... this inserts the selected match into the target segment

Hits are only numbered if you have the window wide enough to show them.  So in the condensed view that I showed above you'll see there are no numbers.  This is also interesting for two reasons:

1. the condensed view always shows the expanded result (with full matches only)

2. the wide view doesn't show the expanded result (but it's irrelevant with full matches anyway)

The second is more important in your case because if you are really working with fragments, and neither your nor my screenshot above show this, then you can't know what the fragment will be until you click in it.  So seeing numbers will be of no help whatsoever as you would not know which number to select.  For example:

Here I'm using fragments and not full matches.  I only see the context when I actually enter the fragment and see the match.

I can see why you would want to do this, and I can see where even now there might be some value in it... but I'm just trying to explain the situation to you better.  If you would still like to be able to select by number then I suggest you log an idea and see if you get any support from others:
