Did you copy old templates from your previous computer perhaps?  Or maybe the contents of your projects folder?

It might also help if you tell us the complete path so we have a clue where the problem comes from.

What happens if you rename the GW.sdltpl ? 

Were your templates 2021 templates, or migrated from an older version of Studio?

The GW template was migrated from an older version of Studio.

I have renamed the template without success, but the template is located in a folder I created myself, not in C:\Program Files (x86)\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio16\ProjectTemplates. Is that relevant?

But even then, I cannot even create a project from the default template, which IS located in C:\Program Files (x86)\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio16\ProjectTemplates. When, starting on the Home page, I select the files I want to use and then click on Create new template - Create local template, that is the moment I get this error message.

And the 'Berthe' in the path that is mentioned in the error message, indicates that Studio is looking for a path that refers to my previous pc, otherwise it should have been 'arbei'.

Do you have any idea what I should do to? I would have tried to create a brand new template from scratch, but as I said, not even that is possible.

I think there are two things:

1. it's not a good idea to migrate old templates

2. try putting that template in the location Studio is looking for it... it might work

Otherwise I think you need a clean up.

Well, as I said, the point is Studio is trying to find it on my PREVIOUS pc, so there is no location on my current pc where I could put the template.

Besides, I cannot use ANY project template, not even the default template. I can only translate documents as single files.

in the meantime I tried to uninstall and reinstall Studio, but the link to the .exe file I wanted to download for that purpose (I found the instructions in another thread here) did not work, so that did not help.

ok - some instructions on how to clean up.  Starting with a simple reset which often cures all ills.

You could use this app for the reset and this will also explain what you will lose by carrying out a reset before you do it:

But if you'd rather do this manually then rename this folder (just add _old to the end or something, it's not important what you rename it to) and restart Studio:

c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio16

So the path would become this:

c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio16_old

If you can't find this folder then you need to unhide your hidden files/folders:
