Seeing fuzzy matches after rows were approved

Bascially my question is a repeat of this: https://www.proz.com/forum/sdl_trados_support/276779-how_can_the_proofreader_see_the_fuzzy_matches.html?text=How%20can%20the%20proofreader%20see%20the%20fuzzy%20matches%3F%20(SDL%20Trados%20support)&print=1

I want to be able to see the match percentages after I've confirmed translations. In Trados, they disappear when you confirm a row, and I can't see an option to show them again.

  • If you insert the fuzzy match from the TM then the value should be added to the middle column in the editor view and held in the sdlxliff.  Please can you provide the before and after confirming so we have a better idea of how you are working?

  • I'm working on a classified document, so can't provide a full screenshot. But you should get the gist of my issue from the below screenshot.

The bottom row shows that it was a fuzzy match in an always-visible yellow box, because I didn't change the match that was inserted. However, on the row above, there's no indication that there was a match in the database. The only way to see that it was is to hover the mouse over the middle column to show the info box, which tells me it was a 70% match. In at least two other CAT tools, that "70%" figure would still be visible. Is there any way to make it permanently visible is SDL Trados Studio?

Partial screenshot of Trados Studio showing a translation segment without visible match percentage. A yellow box indicates a fuzzy match at the bottom, but the row above lacks match info unless hovered over.

  • This isn't normal:

Screenshot of Trados Studio showing Translation Details with a segment status of 'Untranslated', origin 'Interactive', and score '87%'.

So to investigate this it would be helpful to know a little more about how the file you are working on was created.  However, I guessed you were probably editing a file created through alignment due to the origin of your segment so I aligned some files, saved as sdlxliff and opened in Studio for translation and edited a segment:

Screenshot of Trados Studio indicating a segment with '100%' score, status 'Translated', origin 'Interactive', and provider 'Alignment11'.

I can repro... but only if the sdlxliff was created through an alignment process as opposed to translating the source file.  Then I wondered if this was part of a Perfect Match process so I used the alignment file to Perfect Match the translation and this produced the same result:

Close-up of Trados Studio segment showing 'Translated' status, '100%' score, and 'Automatically Aligned' origin from provider 'Alignment11'.

This seems a more likely process to have been followed.  I agree this seems to be a bug, it's not normal and only seems to appear under these unusual circumstances.  I'll log this with support to analyse properly and escalate to development for resolution if appropriate.
