This I think sounds very much like a permissions issue.

First reboot your PC and make sure you are logged on as ADMIN and then check Windows USER accounts (depending on who and how your PC was set up- remotely perhaps),

there is likely to be more than one user account.

Once any excess accounts have been removed- Right Click on Studio and select 'Run as Admin'.

Now go to File Options Setup and try editing/removing the templates.

Thank you for your reply, Steven. I did not get a notification, so I asked the same question just a minute ago and only then noticed that you had already replied. My apologies, please ignore the repeated question.

Anyway, thank you very much for the suggestion. I will try it and report back afterwards!

Yes, it worked! There were no excess accounts, but in File > Setup > Project Templates the first template had the wrong path and apparently that blocked my access to the Default template. When I deleted that first template, I could finally reach the Default template and create a new project.

So thank you very much, Steven, and thanks to Paul, too, who has been wrestling to help me with this problem as well.
