cannot create new projects in studio 2021

I can open packages in Studio 2021 but cannot create new projects. I have to temporarily switch to Studio 2019, create there a new project and then open it in Studio 2021.

I have already reset Studio 2021 to default by renaming the folder to OLD_Studio16 in C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio. Problem persists.

 When I try to create a new package in Studio 2021, the subfolder path seems wrong, with 2 back-slashes instead of one. See screenshotScreenshot showing an error in Trados Studio 2021 where the subfolder path for creating a new project contains double backslashes instead of a single backslash.

    Use an USB stick, this will give you an additional path. Then you can check the behavior. Studio does not add anything to the path specified by the user. There is no "default" path in Studio, you can place the files wherever you want.
    To have a drive C:, use Windows 10 and partition your HDD. This will give you much more flexibility.
