x-ContextContent / Error when importing tmx into memoQ

Hi ,

one of our customers works with memoQ while we use Studio2021. He has a problem now with importing our tm export into his system. We didn't have this problem in earlier versions of Studio, I don't know if this is something 2021 is causing.

Here is the feedback from memoQ:
----------------------------------------------------
The problem is that it was exported from Trados and there are some properties that are not supported by memoQ.

There is an error and a warning.

- The error is caused by a property value that exceeds memoQ's limitation of 512 characters. These entries are not imported at all.

- The warning is caused by the ContextContent property being duplicated. These entries are imported, but the context is lost.

At this time we do not plan to change this limitation as it requires a huge development effort and may affect the overall performance of the TMX import function.
------------------------------------------------

Have you encountered this problem before?

I upload an TM export with some entries.

Best regards
Burim

  • Studio creates a tmx file that cannot be imported into memoQ in full. Not all but some segments have a custom attribute (x-ContextContent) that exceeds 512 chars. This happens with any tmx export from Studio. In the attached example, it sacrifices only 40 segments out of ~4000.
However, there is a workaround: when you export your TM from Studio, check the 'Export to Workbench-optimized TMX format for use in Trados 2007'. This will remove all custom attributes including ContextContent.
Error message in memoQ during TMX file import from Trados Studio, showing incomplete segment import due to custom attribute length.
