There is no documentation available for you at this level.  However, did you also send the SDLECSETTINGS file?  If you use the embedded content processor you probably need to share that file too.

I don't have an SDLECSETTINGS file because I encoded the embedded content rules directly in the file type (under 'Defined by document structure information'). I did it directly in my file type because I assumed it would then be included in the SDLFTSETTINGS files, which would have made it easier to migrate everything.

I know I can export embedded content processors that are encoded separately. However, there's no 'Export' button in the 'Embedded content processing' tab page of the file type settings. Is there another way to export them?

If you add these through the UI are they exported under the sdlftsettings file?

They seem to be. This is an section of the export:

I can find my RegEx in the export, and the Structure info types to which I assigned it. However, when I import this file in another Studio 2021 instance, they don't appear.

ok.  I just made up a file and added some embedded content processing rules using the XML2 filetype:

I then added some rules:

Then exported the settings file to a colleague:

So that seems to work for me when using the UI to create the rules.  Strange it doesn't work for you.  Maybe test with the same file... total nonsense but just wanted to validate the process:
