Studio 21 Freelance Subscription - Language Cloud Maintenance

I am working with a Studio 21 Freelance Subscription. When I signed up for the subscription, nobody told me that I wouldn't be able to use my Trados Studio whenever the server is down or whenever there is maintenance work done on the Language Cloud. Now you may say that that is only logical, and that of course a subscription can only work that way. I though, not being a computer expert, did not think that far when I signed up. Maybe there should be a big fat note that you completely depend on the language cloud server in order to be able to even start the program.

Or maybe it has been a coincidence that I wasn't able to use my subscription account each time the server was down? 

Is there a way to solve this issue (other than buying a "real" license and realizing that the subscription money wasn't really worth it)?
