Whenever I set a pass/fail threshold for any project, the program always seems to calculate the p/f threshold for files based on character counts instead of word counts opposed to what I specified in the settings.
Any idea how to solve this? I already have the latest version of Trados Studio 2021 Professional installed (16.1.6.4276).

Can I just make sure you understand the difference between File -> Options and Project Settings? So you need to make this setting in your File -> Options for it to be effective in new projects, unless you are using Project Templates in which case you need to set this up in your templates.
Apologies for the basic question but it seems the most appropriate place to start trouble shooting.

Thank you for replying. I tried all, project-specific settings, the global settings, the ready-made TQA templates such as TAUS and LISA, creating my own settings from scratch. Unfortunately, none seems to change anything. The program still counts the P/F threshold based on characters even when I select words, which results in a much higher P/F threshold than the one I want.
For instance, I set the threshold to 50 points per 1000 words. In a file whose word count is 151 words the p/f threshold is 38 when in fact it should be just 8.
This is all because Trados counts the threshold based on characters regardless of what I set up earlier.

I have exactly the same issue as Nessma, and I have also tried it all (File > Options, Project Settings, etc., etc.). Could you please let me know if you have managed to solve this issue and, if so, how? My organization needs to start performing TQAs, soon and I can't find a solution to this issue. Unfortunately, the issue remains. I was using the feature for educational purposes and mentioned the issue to my students.
I tried many times to no avail. The program still counts the threshold based on characters not words.
