Actually the problem seems to be with multiple (3+) tags in one segment, not the length of segments.

I am not sure what sort of file do you mean - an xliff or the original document or? Sorry, I'm very new here :)

I tried this out now with a very short project I made (with default settings) from a Word file with copy-pasted text and as you can see below, in segment 3 the verifier reports an error where tags were removed, but in segment 5 it only reports missing spaces.

A sample file could be this file (it's very short) where we can replicate the issue. If the file were very big or with private data, then you could anonymize and/or delete most of it and post it here (menu Insert > Image/video/file).

Sorry for replying so late, but this forum won't allow me to upload the projects or xliffs and I am not able to make a project package.

I created default projects (where I can merge source segments) out of these two word files. In Word Nerds the issue is present as you can see from the picture below. In Suggested searches, however, the tag verifier correctly identifies both removed tags.

• I've opened the Word nerds file in Trados Studio (as there are no problems with the 2nd sample file looks fine, I didn't open it).
• I've merged segments 4 to 8.
• I've deleted some target tags from segments 3 and 4, but I could not repro your issue in Trados Studio 2019:

Could you please confirm that your Trados Studio 2021 is updated tot the lastest version?

It's been 3 years, so I imagine it is no longer an issue. But it seems like in the segments where the missing tags are not flagged, the tags are identical. Not that it fixes anything. But if you still have the files, try changing tag view to Tag ID and see if the ID is not repeated on source, that may explain the issue.
