Have you tried turning off your computer and rebooting?  I know it's a bit of a lame suggestion but given you can't stop the processes running this may be a simple fix to resolve the issue.

Hi Paul, yes, several times. For now I am using Trados 2019. That still works. Sigh.

Thanks, Paul, for your help. I have the feeling something got stuck in the registry. Had this happening before with a much older Trados, but don't remember the solution.

In the comments a user also mentiond that the resolution might cause a problem, so i would suggest to change it for a testing since it might reset your window arrangement.

I've have the exact same problem. My latest working version was 16.1.4.4184. Up until then, updates were no problem. But ever since 16.1.7.4397 came out this year, everything has been a hassle. First, it wouldn't install due to error message "more current version is open". An IT friend of mine worked 3h on this to fix this problem. Once done, Trados wouldn't open - the window popped up for just a second before it disappeared. We've been trying everything - restart, reboot, registry changes (don't ask me what exactly, I'm not an expert here), God knows what. Nothing helped, so I went back to the old version.

Then came update version 16.1.8.4404 - same problem.

Weirdly, the program is running in the task manager but that's just about it. So I plowed my way through blogs, doing everything they suggested (turning off autostart programs, firewall, etc.). Nothing worked, and now I'm back to version 16.1.4.4184 again, which is working just fine.

I'm hoping the next update will fix this bug...

Thank you for your time spent in the remote session. Studio 2021 SR1 failed to start due to a corrupt installation, and an old version of the migration utility pack, We removed all 2021 version plugins, then performed a clean Studio 2021 install, having the issue solved.

Hi Oswald, yes that is sometimes the problem, when you use a second monitor and don't remove Trados from the extended screen before shutting down. In this case though it wasn't. All resolution and monitor settings were all good. The problem was solved by Support. Corrupt installation and an old migration package were the problem. All plugins were removed manually. Then it worked again.

Please create a new thread with your question.  The process is sort of automated so we create the case based on the details for the original poster.  If you create a new post with the version of Studio you are using and a description of your problem then we can create a case on your behalf.

Of course you could always follow the instructions you've just been given and do it yourself now?

Maybe that simple process will save you having to wait for a support engineer?
