PDF file corrupted after translation

Hi, I received a good quality (not a scan) PDF file from a client for translation and converted this to Studio. Completed the translation without issues, however when I try to export this back to PDF, I keep getting the message that the PDF cannot be opened as it is malformed/corrupted. In other words, the target PDF file is generated but I am unable to access this. Interestingly, when attached to an email message it is possible to see its contents in Preview.

I have also tried opening the Studio file as Word but again, this results in an empty, corrupted file.

Client does not use Trados so I cannot send them the SDL file. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

  • Hi, thank you for your reply. I did run the F8 check, which revealed a few minor issues, however unfortunately this has not resolved the problem. The export of the Studio file does generate a PDF document, which I am unable to open - the message displayed reads: "Adobe Acrobat could not open the file because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)". I think this is what must have happened here. The client had sent me the document in both PDF and Word format - I used the PDF for conversion to Trados. In Trados, the file type identifier  of the translated document is PDF.
