Trados Studio converts the original PDF file to a DOCX file. This is what you translate and the target file created will be also a Word DOCX file. When you mention a PDF translated file, I believe it is a DOCX file, rigth?

Anyway, to solve your problem, I'd press the F8 key to run a verification check (or the Verify button from the Review ribbon). Probably there are some missing tags, you can spot them in the error log, fix them in the Editor and then try to create the target document again.

Hi, thank you for your reply. I did run the F8 check, which revealed a few minor issues, however unfortunately this has not resolved the problem. The export of the Studio file does generate a PDF document, which I am unable to open - the message displayed reads: "Adobe Acrobat could not open the file because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)". I think this is what must have happened here. The client had sent me the document in both PDF and Word format - I used the PDF for conversion to Trados. In Trados, the file type identifier  of the translated document is PDF.
