I haven't found any way of doing this.
When Trados crashes, it would be useful to be able to restore a changed layout and not have to redo everything again, as I have just had to do.
Any ideas welcome!

There is. You can save and change profiles by going to the Home tab and then selecting Setup-Manage user profiles.
