Problems with RTL text direction of target .srt file in Hebrew

Hello!

I'm using the subtitling app in Trados Studio 2021 and have translated an .srt file from English to Hebrew.

On the edit screen, the Hebrew text is represented correctly, however, the target translation file has issues with RTL word order.

The text is in the correct order but punctuation marks that should be at the end of the line are now at the beginning of the line.

I hope that someone can help me, I would be really grateful!

Kind regards,

Ebba Tate

  • Hi Paul,

I'm glad that you were able to verify this as a bug and I look forward to the next software update.

Meanwhile, I tried your suggestion in Notepad++, but unfortunately, it did not work. Please see the screenshot.

Screenshot of Notepad++ showing a 'Find' dialog box with a regular expression search that yields the message 'Can't find the text'.

Furthermore, I took a look at the .srt file you fixed, and there is still an issue involving the mix of Hebrew and Latin characters.

Screenshot of a .srt file opened in Notepad with Hebrew and Latin characters, showing a marked sequence of elements with arrows indicating the correct order.

The leftmost three elements should appear on the right in the order I marked, i.e. the line should look like this:

Close-up view of the .srt file text in Notepad highlighting the mix of Hebrew and Latin characters with the brand name 'DHL' in the wrong position.

I hope this information helps to solve the problem.

    Many thanks for your support!!

    Kind regards,

    Ebba
