'Check that source and target end in same punctuation' verification feature has stopped working

It's the weirdest thing - after working reliably for years, this one verification feature has stopped working. I don't recall if it stopped after an update, but I haven't done anything to change the settings. I have it sent as an "error" in both the Project Settings and File Options. All of the other verification features work normally. But the punctuation feature is one of the ones I rely on the most and I am feeling its absence. Can you help?

  • Can you provide a little more context:

    • what version of Trados Studio?
    • what texts is it failing on?
    • have you tried creating a simple file in word yourself with one or two sentences to make sure it's not related to the chars being used in your particular texts?
    • also make sure it's not just that one project?
    • is it possible to see the source file and a translated sdllff?

  • Hi Paul, sorry, after I posted I realized I should have given more information but I didn't know how to return to edit my post. In response to your questions:

I'm using Trados Studio 2021, fully updated. It worked fine for a while.

But then starting about one or two months ago, it's been failing on every file I've translated. I'm a full-time translator so that's a lot of files. Big files, little files, project files, standalone files.... it doesn't matter. I was sort of hoping the issue would go away with the next update, but I recently ran the latest update and it's still here.

I did just create a simple file to send to you and you will notice that the confirmed segments all have different end punctuation that is unflagged. I left out the number "19" in "COVID-19" to show that the missing number verification feature does work.

I'd like to send you the source file and sdlxliff file I just created, but I don't see how to attach them in this forum. Can you give me your email so I can send them?

    Thank you!
