Is there a way to have Trados Studio replace some words from a TM or MT match?
The problem often arises when I am using MT and am presented with words wih old spelling, or br-pt terms not used in pt-pt (my target language). I have tried autocorrect, but that seems to work only when I am typing, not on inserted matches.

For frequent occurrences, you can check into different verification tools such as word list and terminology verifier. These will help highlight instances where these "errors" occur. You can also check into an app called Term Injector, which is quite powerful for changing TM output but has a bit of a learning curve. Good luck!

I am rather looking for something that makes it unncessary to correct some MT errors while I am still reading the MT sugestion, rather than at the end of the translation process
PS - I will look into Term Injector - didn't know somthing like that existed ;-)
Hi, as far as I know there is no way to influence MT output unless you are able to tinker with the MT engine itself, e.g. learning, glossaries, etc. Unless you can do this, you will always have to correct the output after the fact.
It's a great tool for some scenarios, but it can only be used with file-based TMs, not MT (unfortunately -- THAT would be useful ;-) )

How would you see that working in practice? So how would you tell it to use MT for particular words... which words? I imagine if you knew the words then you could provide the required translation in the first place for use in the TermInjector.
Just mulling the idea over in my head... and not getting too far!
Maybe worth Tommi Nieminen chipping in... I think he "may" be working on an update to his app in any event.

It's all the same for me if the match comes the TM or from MT. If you could make Studio's AutoCorrect work upon insertion of a match in the Editor, that would already be very welcome.
In theory Studio's "Match Repair" has the capability to do this already as it should be able to use fragment matching, terminology or MT to repair matches. What version of Studio are you running?

I do find this doesn't work consistently, but it's worth playing with it as you may get some value from it.

I have Studio 2021, and I am already using Match Repair, with very good results.
I was looking for the possibiity to define exactly what I want to be replaced. The most common scenario where I feel that need is when the TM/MT match comes up with the old pt spelling and I have to correct it manually, or when the match includes br-pt vocabulary that I need to replace manually for pt-pt.
