Problem "Dependency file not found"

Hi,

When I work with SDL Trados Studio 2014 (Freelance), I have always the same problem. After reopening the sdxliff-files, the following error message appears:

It seems that the reason is that my computer deletes temporary files. I tried to find a solution in different Internet Forums, but nothing helped. I work with Windows 8.1 and I use Avast Free Antivirus.

Thank you very much for your help

Best regards

Martin

  • Hi Beatriz,

This happened recently to me and one of my clients.

The first symptom was two 'Dependency file not found' messages on opening the sdlxliff.
The second was that it was impossible to 'Save Target as' or Preview.
The problem in this instance was generated by content in the footers/headers of the Word document.

The only workable solution was to save the original source Word file as .docx - I believe the client actually copied the content of the Word file without its headers to a new, empty .docx using copy and paste. Then they pretranslated.

If you can't retranslate, not even manually, I don't think there is any solution to your problem...

The only way to get the content into a Word file was to 'Export for external review' but of course that was a bilingual file and totally useless to the client.

    Sorry!
