"cannot create a file when that file already exists" when importing a new project template

Hi,

I've recently reinstalled Trados Studio 2021 and, while its overall performance has improved (i.e. less frequent crashes, quicker processing), I am not able to import a project template anymore. Whenever I import a template and try to set the project location, the message "cannot create a file when that file already exists" pops up and prevents me from going any further.

Version is TS 2021 SR2 16.2.8.9097, running on Windows 10 on a Mac machine via VMware.

Thank you for your help,

  • It's actually not related to a specific project. I was having more and more issues with Trados (such as continuous crashes, slow progression from one segment to the next, TB disconnecting while in the editing mode), so I first tried a repair (which improved speed but not stability), then a reinstall (same as before), then I deleted all my profile files and made a fresh install (which seemed to solve the issue). Since then, I've used the default project template on a couple of short projects with no major issues, but I want to load a previous project template. So I open Trados, follow File -> Setup -> Project templates, I import the old template, and when I try to customize the project location I get the error message.
By the way, it does not only happen with a specific project template, but with just any alternative project template I try to import.

    Thank you for your help,

    Valentina
