in order to import a TMX into an SDLTM in trados here would be needed to
1. create a new TM in trados studio . From the translation memory view in Trados studio please click on new and from there proceed with the steps from the wizard .It is quite important to make sure you create the TM in trados studio with the same language pairs and language flavors like the TMX. Once the TM is created it will be empty.
2. Please open the TM in TM view - and right click on it and select import then select the TMX received from your customer

This Wiki was created for SDLXLIFF import but the process is the same so I am very confident it will help you .
At the following link you can also find the entire list of languages supported in Trados studio - https://www.trados.com/products/trados-studio/supported-files-and-languages.html
