You need tool(s).

Trados has nice tool to record TU details - I guess, that is the only one you can rely on

Now you need nice tool to retrieve TU details

For instance, I have made my own one.

It searches TU details on the basis of All TMs in the project - in this case 5 of them.

search term is "01451"

it sorts, if you want.

And this is the first step of its way to go.

Just to confirm again.  This is only going to be possible if you have specifically added this to your TUs when you translate.  You will not find this information in a translation memory that has not been customised to hold the information in an additional field.  So you can start recording it now (RecordSourceTU) but you cannot get this information from a TM where it wasn't similarly recorded in the past.

The application from Kelly looks interesting, but if you haven't recorded the project you won't find it with that application either.

If so, Trados' is a good enough tool for you

It shows you quite narrowed "Translation Results" including detailed extra info (if only if you've added the extra info beforehand).

The above mentioned tool of mine is a testing, TM field search testing

It is a successful testing though, its results are not so much narrowed

- it has quite wide ragne of them, because that is what TM Fields do.

What does this bring you that you can't have in the TM Maintenance View already?  I do like the layout Kelly uses for the fields in place, but all of that information is already available in the TM Maintenance View and searchable.

In this case why can't you use the existing fields to filter, or just simply display, the information as you work?  Perhaps this article will be helpful if you're just aware of what's possible already?

Sure, I can work with the filter, but it would be much easier for me now to see right away the project name in the column. Actually, I did not think that this TM should be used again at all and it came differently. One factor in the matter here is time. Unfortunately, I didn't take care to create the custom fields initially. My fault.

never mind.

use whatever you want to use.

they both are using "TM Text Field" equally.

one is provided as OutOfBox, the other is basically the same functionality though you can use it more "quickly/conveniently".

one is FreeStyle, the other is FormattedStyle..

I just wanted to make sure that you were aware of this setting which should allow you to see the project name right away in the TM results window if it's already stored in the TM?

If you are lucky enough you could change your past TM.
In your PC, you might have all your records needed,
by "records" I mean, all Trados projects including both target sdlxiffs and TMs.
Now, make a total lists of all TUs on the basis of time from both sdlxliffs and TMs (they have their own time records within them).
Match them, and finally you could inject detailed info you needed into your TMs (TextFields).

Yes, these options are selected. Normally I can see the project name in other TM, but not in this one "special case". This is the problem.

ok - I feel as though we now understand the problem.  If you would like to investigate this a little can you share your TM with me, or a part of it (export to TMX and cut it down in size)?
