Unable to complete batch task for updating master translation memory and creating target file

Hello,

I am using SDL Trados Studio 2019 SR 2 15.2.8.3007 which I think I downloaded in January 2022.

When I try to run the batch task for updating the master translation memory and creating the target file (in German it is called "Abschließen"), I get an error message stating that the report for the TM update could not be created. The target file is not created, however, the TM is updated because I checked some of the entries that I translated and they were included in the TM.

I am attaching a screenshot of the error message boxes (unfortunately it is in German as I am using the German UI):

Since the update seems to be working, I can use a workaround to create the target file. But it would be helpful to know why the batch task is failing and how I might solve the problem.

I am very grateful for any form of comment, hint or solution as we do not have a support contract and I am not a Trados expert either.

  • Hi Lydia,

    in the past I tried to use a TM which was stored on our network. However, I always had trouble connecting which is why I know use the workaround to copy the TM from the network to my desktop and then copy it back after I finish the translation.

    I have already double checked that the TM on my desktop is referenced in the general settings and the project settings.

    I did another around of translations yesterday and checked the TM afterwards: all new segments had been added. Thus, it seems that only the report for updating the TM cannot be generated and that the batch task combining update and target file generation is unusable.

    I have also tried to upgrade the used TM, it helped a little because there was another error message before I dit that.

    Maybe the problem is that I changed the path to the TM? Could it be a problem regarding the target location for the TM report?
