The behavior you describe happens only when you use F7 to do a batch spellcheck of the entire document. Whenever a word is not recognised, you have different choices, to correct it, ignore it or add it to the custom dictionary. The process will go on until you have gone through all unrecognized words in the document, so it is normal in my eyes that it does not stop after you have added one of the words to the custom dictionary because there are still other words left where you need to make a decision. The window will close after the last word in the document, which is expected usual behavior.

On the other hand, if you want to add a single word to the custom dictionary, you may right-click on that word and select 'Add to dictionary'. In that case, you will not need to close the window after the word has been added. 

And, BTW, this behaviour is the same as in Word and actually the spellcheck process is done in Word in the background and is not part of the Studio code, so I guess that it cannot be changed anyway.

I watched your video and realize now that there is in fact a problem. After you added a word, the process does not check the next word, but requires you to click 'Resume". 
In which version did you test this: 2021 or 2022? I can repro the behavior you show in 2021, but in 2022 I unfortunately get the following error whenever I add a word:


I wanted to compare with the behavior in MS Word, but unfortunately Microsoft has replaced the spellchecker with the new 'Microsoft Editor' in Microsoft 365 and that one works quite differently.

This raises the question to RWS whether they plan to use the new Editor instead of the old Word spellchecker.

I cannot repro neither in 2021, nor 2022. Are you using Word or Hunspel? Word in my case. Slow, but works better than Hunspel.

I am running the latest version of Trados Studio 2022.

I'm using Word (not Hunspell), which, apart from being a little slower, actually works really well for me.

I just checked, and I can reproduce this in my copy of Trados Studio 2021 (using Word as spell checker):

This video shows the behavior with the new "Microsoft Editor', which is a totally new and different piece of software than the spellchecker module that is used in Studio. So, this comparison does not help at all.
