Bypass having to press "Resume" after each added word in Spell Checker dialogue in Trados Studio!

When running the spell checker in Trados Studio, after you click Add (to add a new word to the spell checking dictionary), before you can continue (i.e. after the word has been added), you have to press Resume every time, which is highly annoying. Could you PLEASE make it so the system assumes you want to continue after adding a new word? This would greatly speed up the whole process of adding multiple new words.

  • Hi Michael

The behavior you describe happens only when you use F7 to do a batch spellcheck of the entire document. Whenever a word is not recognised, you have different choices, to correct it, ignore it or add it to the custom dictionary. The process will go on until you have gone through all unrecognized words in the document, so it is normal in my eyes that it does not stop after you have added one of the words to the custom dictionary because there are still other words left where you need to make a decision. The window will close after the last word in the document, which is expected usual behavior.

On the other hand, if you want to add a single word to the custom dictionary, you may right-click on that word and select 'Add to dictionary'. In that case, you will not need to close the window after the word has been added.

And, BTW, this behaviour is the same as in Word and actually the spellcheck process is done in Word in the background and is not part of the Studio code, so I guess that it cannot be changed anyway.
