I could think of a quite simple workaround - change "the Official American quotation marks" into "the your Offcial quotation marks".
How's that ? Looks so simple.

I have grabbed quotes at Source and Target, for instance..
The next step should be to convert grabbed marks into "Luxembourg" ones at Targets, Right ?

This is a quick test, so.. it needs fine tunning - multiSeged quotes and stand alone quotes.. etc.

I don't really get what your solution is about? Right now I get them automatically via a AHK script but it should be implemented into Trados by default.

My idea about how your solution works is that you first write everything with wrong quotation marks and then have to click a button which select text with quotation marks and then changes these to correct ones. Is that right?

The problems with that solution are that you have to use a step in between which is not really intuitive or time saving (compared to on the fly while typing) and the second issue is that your project TM gets populated with wrong TUs as they contain the wrong quotation marks.

It would be way easier if Trados would implement correct quotation marks right from the beginning or give people an option to select the default quotation marks for their target language as it has already been proven many times that Trados is using wrong formatings in many areas for many languages (due to blindly relying on default MS settings for each language). They already reacted by offering some way to change default formatting of currencies, numbers, dates, and time via the TM. So why not simply add another section for quotation marks?

Nobody likes workaround.
But, lots of  them use it.
Why ?
