Segmenting xliff files

I have to translate a large set of xliff files that are not being properly segmented. I have applied Paul Filkin's suggestion in this thread, ie. deleting the target elements' content using a text editor, and segmenting has improved a lot. However, I still would like to make Trados segment the content further when some specific tags appear in the source, eg. the <li> tag. Here's an example of a segment I'd like to segment further:

Screenshot of Trados Studio showing a segment with multiple sentences not properly segmented, including tags like 'li'. Purple and blue underlines indicate potential segmentation issues.

Is there any way this can be done?

Thanks in advance!

  • You could copy all source to target in your xliff and then treat it as a simple xml file with html parser for embedded content.

    You need a new file type for xml then.
    Parser elements:
    //* not translatable
    //target always translatable, structure Paragraph
    root element xliff
    Set then html5 parser for all elements with structure CDATA and Paragraph.

    Or use the Multlingual XML file type.
