I wonder who told you that you cannot use translation memories with Trados Studio 2019!

All versions of Trados Studio can use translation memories (TMs), in fact this is the base pillar of the translating process. The capability to use cloud-based TMs has only been added recently.

The second screen you are showing is related to the use of machine translation and not translation memories.

You simply need to create a translation memory for your language pair and select it in the project settings (in the first screen you show under 'Use ...'. There you add your TM to the project by clicking on:



If you do not have any TM yet, you can create one by clicking on the button 'Create'.

Hope this helps you to understand how this works and move forward.

thanks for your kind reply but.. I do not want to use TM as I do not want to translate manually but I need to translate automatically the text I have and use all pair of languages available.

Therefore, my questions is: Are all languages pairs allowed and supported by SDL Machine Cloud? It seems IT-FR are not. Please advise, thank you!

Sorry, but I did not understand from your wording that you wanted to work without TMs and only with MT.

I just tested your setup with Studio 2019. I set up a project with the language pair It-IT_Fr-FR and when I select 'Cloud-based resources' I get this:


Looking at your screenshot, it seems that you have already assigned the appropriate LC engine (in the first screenshot the lines with the orange background) and what you see in the second screenshot are the additional available language pairs, I guess. 

I suggest that you go back to the 'Translation Memory and Document Settings' screen and check what engines you have there. Ideally, remove them all and then add the one you need (the IT-FR will automatically be proposed) as shown in my screenshot.

If I create a new project I get this

If I start from Translating a single document instead, I get this: no IT>FR language  pair.

" I think it's wrong as if I proceed I never get a translation!

Please is there a fast way to solve this? Thanks

it has now suddenly worked... I must admit I'll never understood Trados as when I use it I ALWAYS need to fight with something there... it is so strange and I am wondering if it could be a problem of net or what else ?
