Date/Timestamp for TM entries

Hi,

is it possible to set the update field for date to Today() and not having to select an explicit date from the date picker? With Today() it would then add the correct date of when the segment is added, namely the one of that very day. This would then also make these settings in Project templates easier as you would not have to change it manually every time.

In our TMs we need the date to be the date the segment was actually entered and it's not really user friendly to have to switch to the TM settings every day to change the date under update TM fields.

Best regards,

Pascal

I understand that you want to ensure the most relevant result is shown at top.
And that its likely to be the most recent / last modified.

As  mentioned, system fields capture this information already.
I understand your concern being managing the view of this, and as my screen print shows the date/time stamp seeing at the bottom will always show the most recent

Screenshot of Trados Studio showing a translation segment with a datetime stamp at the bottom indicating last modification by user MSRose on 30082022 at 11:03:20.

But I also accept some customisation around this would benefit you - something we can try explore.

In the meantime, if you are getting too many results to begin with then your options would include creating filter penalties or hard filters based on the system fields which would be the most reliable/consistent.

Screenshot of Trados Studio project settings with a focus on Filter Penalties section where a new filter named 'Recent' is being created with conditions based on the last modified date.

  • Sorry, but NO. This is definitely NOT what I asked for…

I don't want to apply penalties and I don't want to have to move the mouse over a field to view the date and everything. Furthermore the date/timestamp from your screenshot does not change if I select another TM hit in the list. It remains the same for all hits.

I want the correct entry date shown in the right most field in the very same line as the TM hit. (thus one per line) as shown in my screenshot. For this we most probably need a change in the date update field. Instead of selecting the Date we want to enter, just give the option "now()" or similar which will then simply add the date the TM entry is created.

Else please offer a way to make the date from the TM entry itself show up in the same line as each TM hit in the list.

  • Yes I hear you

All the points you raised above are correct including describing what information is currently being shown and that it would be nice to offer users the choice.
As it's not currently a supported feature all I could think of to help, was to create a 0 penalty filter so that the information is at least seen within the hits view.
As this is setup at general level it would apply to all TM's you may have listed as a resource but nevertheless it is additional configurations you would need to be mindful of .

Hopefully we can take your suggesting of giving user choice of which meta data should be displayed at the bottom right can be fulfilled in the near future.

  • Hi ,

yes but instead at the bottom right (which is only for the selected item I guess) it would be better if it would be directly in the same line for each TM entry.
