Reviewing colleague's files in my existing project

Hello everyone! 
 What's the recommended way/best practice for me to review a colleague's files? 
 We're both working for the same customer so I want to use the same TMs and TBs for the review. 
 Can I just add their files to my project and 'Open for review'? Can I add them as a subfolder? (The customer created the xliffs and my colleague set up her own project to translate them). 
 When I tried adding the files for review as a subfolder, I got an error message and restarting Studio caused the subfolder to disappear! 
 Is the version of Studio we have relevant?

 If you both have Freelance,and are not using packages then the easiest way is simply to create a new project for your colleagues files, point to the same TM/TB you used and want to apply here, open the files for review and finally once done send them back to her.
