You can rearrange windows in Studio according to your wishes, so for example you can move the messages pane to another location, where it will not overlay the translation results pane.

To apply a translation to your segment you can also press CTRL+1 for the first, CTRL+2 for the second, CTR+3 for the third hit and so on.

To have only messages important to you change the settings of the QA checker withing your project settings. Please remember here, that changing the settings via File -> Options will NOT influence your existing projects. This is the Tea and Settings enigma: multifarious.filkin.com/.../

Strange enigma, that the QA Checker would not apply to a current project...
No flexibility?
Suppose I want to shut Comments up while editing initially, but want comments while reviewing ?

This is not justified.

CTRL+T applies the translation shown in the Translation Results window, right? I disagree and I wouldn’t like anything I can’t see to be inserted in the Target.

Trados Studio won’t know if it’s deliberate or not. If you don’t want to show some kind of messages, don't check for them in QA Checker settings:

Nothing strange here. You must change the QA settings in your project. The File -> Options way will only apply for future projects based on the default.

And you can place the messages window fixed anywhere you want. You can also have it completely closed when translating and present when the file is opened for review. Studio has the ability to have three different GUI layouts for the three different processes offered: translation, review and sign-off.

In terms of flexibility you will not find a tool on the market, which offers more of that as Studio. Trados Studio is the absolutely most flexible tool available. The fact, settings done via File -> Options do not apply to existing projects shows flexibility. Would these settings apply, all projects would have the same settings. This would be completely inflexible, while applying individual settings to different projects via projects templates is flexible.

So, two ways:
- at the level of the current project (which I just did)
- and as a general option for further projects.

It is even more flexible, as you can take your current project as template for future projects or create a template based on this project. You can have as many project templates as necessary.
Using File -> Options for configuring project specific settings is not the best way to do so. The better way is using individual project templates for different projects, as the settings for language pair A->B may highly differ from those in language pair C->D and the settings needed for customer X are certainly not the same as for customer Y.

You can also have many window layouts stored in user profiles. Same applies to individually modified or assigned keyboard shortcuts, which are also stored in user profiles.
