I don’t think you can highlight text in PowerPoint files.

Regarding Wordlight, I’ve never used this app, sorry-

There is another app (Wordbird) to highlight text, but it will only keep highlighting format in Word files, so it won’t be useful for you.

Exactly as Jesús Prieto mentioned... only some source file formats support this into the target applications (Word and PDF) for example.  It is mentioned in the wiki:  Wordlight

I think Wordlight is pretty much the same as the highlighting feature of Wordbird, right?

Similar... from memory I preferred the handling with Wordlight, but maybe I should take another look at Wordbird and investigate the differences.  I know Angela did a great job with that plugin.

Until variables stopped working for me, Wordbird was one of my favourites apps. It’s the all-in-one app!

Oh boy, second question in a row for which I missed the answer that was available on the Internet (and that I had myself already documented in our internal help documentation).
