Importing back a bilingual export: Error in implicit conversion. Cannot convert null object.

Dear Community,

I hope you can help me with this error.

When trying to import the bilingual Word file (.review.docx) in which the client made their changes back into the Trados project, I receive this error: Error in implicit conversion. Cannot convert null object.

The changes aren't loaded into the editor and hence, I cannot update the TM accordingly. Adding them manually is not an option either, as this is a regular process and has worked before.
The original source file was in Word format and has nothing to do with the POEditor, so the support page I found on this error does not help me.

PS. Trados wouldn't accept the review.docx file the client sent me, giving another error saying the document layout could not be found.
I was able to solve this by generating a new export in Trados and adding the column with the tracked changes in that file. After that, this error occurred. 

We were so happy to have a client who has an internal colleague with Trados competence to offer this solution and keep the TM up to date, but now, it doesn't work on our end...
I'm keeping my fingers crossed someone has come across this problem and can help me out.

    Thank you for your reply! Unfortunately, this is the page I already linked in my post. My problem is with the bilingual Word export and not the bilingual Excel file type. Using a copy of the source file won't work to import the bilingual export there, as the file is empty/ has different segment status.

    If no other solution is possible, I found a longer way around th problem yesterday:

    1. Accept all changes in the Word (.review.docx) made by the client
    2. Copy source and target in an empty Excel spreadsheet.
    3. Rename the column headers according to their language
    4. Save the Excel file (.xlxs)
    5. Use Glossary Converter to convert the Excel file in TMX format
    6. Create a new and empty TM and import the translation units from that TMX file
    7. Rename the original source file so as to not overwrite the one already in the project
    8. Deactivate all other TMs and add the renamed source file
    9. Pretranslate the file to check that everything has been imported correctly.

    Steps 6 to 9 are optional, but since I was having so much trouble with the exports I waned to make sure it worked by checking it this way.

    However, I'd very much like to not have to do this every time, so I look forward to any other solutions! Slight smile
