This seems to be a give away that you are not actually using the filetype you think you are.  If all the file content is being brought into the editor the you are most likely already using the "common" Excel filetype and not the Bilingual Excel filetype at all.

I would check your project templates to make sure that the Bilingual filetype is set up so it can actually be used.

I am actually working on this translation now and these are the settings that "did not work" (highly probable I´ve done smth wrong):

So, firstly, I moved the Bilingual Excel format up in the list of file types and then, in the common configuration I did this:

Even the preview shows me all the fields and content. 

So, after that I created a very simple Excel and opened it with these same Trados settings and it worked perfectly, opening only the texts from the column I indicated.

Is there any possibility of sending you/ posting the table I am working on? I will remove all confidential data, I am sure the error is caused by the type of this excel table.

Before you do... why don't you try using the Multilingual Excel filetype from the appstore and see if this handles your file better?

Could mean that you have not configured the filetype settings correctly... especially f that page is the only place you looked?

I have prepared an excel with two target languages and characters limitation:

I have no comments and I want to apply characters limitation only to the target texts.

As for default font/size, it cannot be set unless I indicate a specific column with this data (Pixels), which I don´t have:

So I just leave it blank (by the way, what is the difference between the length in characters and pixels?)

So when I open my excel, the texts for translation are these: 

The plugin takes texts from the column defined as context (classification field). I have done the process from the beginning 3 times and I am really desperate. So ...I cannot continue until I get the right texts to translate in my source column in Trados...

Another question: supposedly I set a 20-characters limitation to the target column, but Trados gave me no warning on that in line 6:

I also have doubts regarding the difference between Context Information / Comments. Context is the information that does not need translation? 

Needless to say, I will be more than grateful for your help....

Please uninstall Multilingual Excel File Type, restart Studio, install the plugin from within Studio again, restart and hope it will work.

By "uninstall" you mean just removing it from the list?

No. Go to Add-Ins and AppStore and uninstall there. It is crucial to have the absolute most recent latest file type here.

Great, I entered Complementos and uninstalled it. But then my Trados crashed. Totally:

Restarting the PC does not help...it just crashed... What do I do now?

So I made a small one up that seems to be like yours:

I created a project, exactly the same settings as you,  and translated the first segment with too many chars:

1. I deliberately used too may chars and on confirming an error is thrown.
2. The error reports my target length 44 exceeds the max. 20.
3. The context is also shown.

So, first point is your settings seem fine and the file seems to handle perfectly.  Of course this doesn't preclude your file not being the same.  A sample would have helped!  Here's mine in case you want to test it: ML_Excel.zip

Given you don't seem to know what this is for why are you even trying to complete it?  Here's a nice answer from ChatGPT!

I think it's clear you are not using the right filetype!  I suggest you do some basic checks.  For example... when you create your project take a look and see which filetype is associated with the file... that's always a good idea before you waste all your time:

If it's not being picked up ten check the obvious:

1. are you using a different template to create your project than the one you configured?
2. is the Multilingual Excel filetype enabled?
3. Is the Multilingual Excel filetype above your other XLSX filetypes in your filetype settings?  Studio will take the first enabled Excel filetype it comes to.

Obviously because you are not using the Multilingual Excel filetype!  Once you are just make sure that you also run the Import Multilingual Translations (Excel) batch task when you create your project because this is how the context gets in there.

Neither need translation.  These are just columns that contain information you might want to expose to the translator.

I hope that helps?  In the meantime I think you'd probably benefit from some basic training... maybe take the certification training?  I think it'll help you with understanding how the application works and what you can do to help yourself.
