Updating to 'Trados Studio 2022 SR1 - 17.1.6.16252' results in error: Method not found: 'Void Sdl.LanguagePlatform.Core.LanguagePair.set_SourceCulture(System.Globalization.CultureInfo)'.

Hi,

Soon after going through the update offered in Trados Studio PRO 2022, to the current version Trados Studio 2022 SR1 - 17.1.6.16252, we started getting errors on MT Enhance while trying to use Basic Google NMT. Anytime we try to 'Enable' the GNMT, the follwiing error will show:

Method not found: 'Void Sdl.LanguagePlatform.Core.LanguagePair.set_SourceCulture(System.Globalization.CultureInfo)'

I tried re-installing the MT Enhance container but no success. I managed to try the MT Enhance on another licence that has not been updated to SR1 and it worked without issues. So, i am pretty sure it's origin is in the today's update.

I wonder if anyone has anyone had the same experience?

AfrimTrados Studio error message displaying 'Method not found: Void Sdl.LanguagePlatform.Core.LanguagePair.set_SourceCulture(System.Globalization.CultureInfo)'.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this update.  The error message Ana shows is extremely clear, and you have got the old version of the app installed... at least the unpacked folders are based on the old one.

So close Studio and then delete everything you have in these folders:

    %APPDATA%\Trados\Trados Studio\17\Plugins

    %LOCALAPPDATA%\Trados\Trados Studio\17\Plugins

    c:\ProgramData\Trados\Trados Studio\17\Plugins

Then restart Studio and reinstall the app via the integrated AppStore in Trados Studio.  DO NOT USE ANY VERSION OF THE APP YOU MIGHT HAPPEN TO HAVE ON YOUR COMPUTER.

  • The paths listed here do not correspond to what I have
and in the most-similar paths, there are no "Plugins" directories.
I'd rather undo the update. I know what it warps, I don't know what it brings.

How about you tell us what you have?

What version of Trados Studio do you have?  Maybe you don't have 2022?  Maybe you have just hidden your system folders?

I'd rather undo the update. I know what it warps, I don't know what it brings.

That really isn't the most appropriate solution here.  But if you insist just uninstall it properly trough the windows control panel and then download and install the old one:

It's a mistake though... you're fixing the wrong problem.

  • Can you uninstall specifically an app's update through Control Panel / Programs  ?
This is designed as an app uninstall, not a rollback.

Or how do you do a simple rollback to the state-of-software of, say, three days ago?

Ah... so you only want to undo the plugin update?  That definitley won't help you as I don't believe this is your problem.  I think you have simoly go the unpacked folder of the old plugin still there, so when you updated to Trados Studio 2022 SR1 that is what broke.  So your options now are these:

    1. roll back from Trados Studio 2022 SR1
    2. clean out your plugins as instructed and install the right version properly
    3. clean out your plugins and simply don't install them again

I'm afraid you need to look at the real problem here and not do something just because you re unable to find a folder that is 100% there.  You just can't see it.
