Trados Studio can't find the file meant to start a new project

Hello!

My Trados Studio 2022 SR 1 seems unable to find the file I want to use to start a new project. I go into the new project wizard, choose the correct path to the file (it's a sample from the Trados Studio Level 1 course), but the wizard tells me "no items match your search" when I choose the folder containing the sample file. It indicates the folder is empty, and I know it's not empty, because the file is there, along with others, in Windows Explorer.

Thanks in advance for any help!

  • Hello Kathleen,

It seems like you're having trouble locating a file while trying to start a new project in Trados Studio 2022 SR 1. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot this issue:

Step 1: Check the File Format

Ensure that the file you're trying to import is in a format that Trados Studio supports. If it's not, you may need to convert it to a compatible format.

Step 2: Verify the File Path

Make sure that the file path you're entering in the New Project Wizard is correct. If the path is incorrect, Trados Studio won't be able to locate the file.

Step 3: Check for Hidden Files

Sometimes, files may be hidden in Windows Explorer. To view hidden files, open Windows Explorer, click on 'View' at the top, and then check 'Hidden items'. If your file was hidden, it should now be visible.

    Step 4: Reinstall Trados Studio

If none of the above steps work, there might be an issue with your Trados Studio installation. Consider reinstalling the software to see if that resolves the issue.

Remember, these are general troubleshooting steps. The exact solution might vary depending on the specifics of your situation.

    Best regards,

  • I'm clicking on "reject answer" because I don't want other people to see the green check mark and think the problem is resolved. I'd like more input before I reinstall Trados Studio 2022. I will go through with the reinstallation if I don't hear from anyone else.

    Thanks!

    Kathleen
