I think you need to accept the changes before using retrofit.

Thanks. I thought it might be that, and had done a search but couldn't find anything.
I did as you suggested, but now I get two error messages: the same one as before, and one that says "source file is corrupted, please try to resave it".
I then followed Trados' instructions (starting from scratch, that is), but I keep getting the same error messages.
Do you happen to have any other suggestions?
To be on a safe side: you are talking about updating from monolingual Word file? If so, I deeply regret not to have any experience with that. File is corrupt might be a result of an older Word version, if that might apply.
Should you talk about the bilingual file from external review, I possibly might be able to help.

Maybe you reviewed the file in a different version of Word that changed things we need to be able to accept the updated version? I don't really know... but I suggest you export the file again, update it based on the changes that were made (hopefully not too many) and try again.
