Hello,
We translated a .doc file (DOC v. 2.0.0.0) with Trados Studio 2021 containing a lot of graphic links.
After translation and after saving the target file, the link information in Word was different (different file path). Please see screens from Word below.

Why does that happen? And what can we do to avoid that?

I'd like to know if this is actually a problem or if you just noticed they changed? The reason I ask is that the target link is just expanded to show the full path compared to the source and it's also changed from relative to absolute.
I don't know for sure but this change could be occurring to ensure that the document retains the ability to reference the graphics regardless of their location or the document's location. That's why I asked if it's a problem? The absolute path is more precise and will locate the graphics no matter what directory you are currently in.

Yes, it’s a problem. The paths no longer work when our client receives the translated files with the changed paths. They might be absolute, but they don’t work. Only once we recopy all of the original paths from the source document for every single image into the target document do they work once again. We need the paths to remain unchanged through it’s handling by Trados Studio.

Can you provide me with a sample file to test against and raise a bug? All you need to do (in case you need this advice) is copy the file, remove everything in it apart from these graphics and then share that simple file. If the graphics are considered too sensitive to share then maybe you can replace them with any graphic?
In the meantime I'll try and recreate, but it would be better to have a surefire sample to work with.

I just translated your sample file and in the source and in my target the paths are exactly the same:
I cannot see anything that changed. I also attached your source, my target and my translated bilingual file so you can check:
Maybe it's related to something around the location of your files, or updating links in Word? I don't really know, but certainly just translating this file and saving the target isn't changing any links for me.
