AutoSuggest not working properly

Hi,

I have been experiencing some problems with AutoSuggest function lately.

The terms which appear in Term Recognition should be suggested while writing, right? But in some cases they dont at all and I have to write the word manually, OR I have to write several letters before the suggestion appears in the suggestion window below the segment (meny), OR when the term consists of eks. 2 words I have to write the whole first word to get the rest.

I am especially wondering about the cases where no suggestions appear to be insterted automatic with [Enter] and I have to write them manually on my own.

Is there something wrong with my settings?

Thank you in advance.

Maybe I should change my settings?

  • Hello,

I understand that you're having issues with the AutoSuggest function in Trados Studio. This feature should indeed suggest terms from your Term Recognition as you type. However, there could be a few reasons why you're experiencing these issues.

Step 1: Check your AutoSuggest settings. Ensure that you have the correct termbases and AutoSuggest dictionaries selected for your project.

Step 2: Make sure that your termbases and AutoSuggest dictionaries are up-to-date and contain the terms you're expecting to see.

Step 3: Check the minimum prefix length setting. This determines how many characters you need to type before suggestions start appearing. If this is set too high, you may need to type more characters before you see suggestions.

Step 4: If you're working with multi-word terms, ensure that the "Enable multi-word AutoSuggest" option is checked. This should allow suggestions to appear after typing the first word of a multi-word term.

Step 5: If you're still not seeing suggestions, it could be due to the specific terms you're typing. AutoSuggest relies on the terms in your termbases and dictionaries, so if a term isn't included, it won't be suggested.

Remember, the more characters you type, the more specific the suggestions will be. If you're still having issues after checking these settings, it might be worth revisiting the source of your termbases and dictionaries to ensure they contain the correct terms.

I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

    Best regards,

  • Thank you,

Where do I find "Enable multi-word AutoSuggest" option?

  • ,

    I think the AI is hallutinating… :-)

Could you please try to set Show the suggestions window when there are with 20?

BTW: 20 is the default value and I think 2 is very low, and may be the case of your screen-shot, having 3 suggestions:

Trados Studio AutoSuggest options window showing 'Enable AutoSuggest' checked and 'Show the suggestions window when there are 20 or fewer suggestions' highlighted.
