Regarding the custom segmentation rules for NBSP

Hello Team,

I would like to set an exception to the segmentation rule for NBSP, as shown in the image below.
Screenshot of a document with segmentation rules, highlighting the rule for 'FIG. 1A' with a red box.

Could you please provide me with the appropriate Regex or option to accomplish this?
Trados Studio New Translation Memory window showing segmentation rules with a dropdown menu open, selecting 'Whitespace (including spaces)' option.

I have tried Witespace (including spaces), but it treats line breaks as exceptions as well, so it is not suitable.

  • Hello,

Based on your query, it seems you want to set an exception to the segmentation rule for NBSP in Trados Studio. Here's how you can do it:

Step 1: Open your Translation Memory (TM) in Trados Studio's Translation Memories view.

Step 2: Right-click on the TM and select 'Settings'.

Step 3: Navigate to 'Language Resources', select 'Segmentation Rules', and click on 'Edit'.

Step 4: Find the 'Full stop' rule and click on 'Edit'.

Step 5: Click on the 'Add' button to add an exception.

Step 6: Give your exception a name and click on the 'Advanced View' button.

Step 7: Leave the 'Before break' dialogue box as it is. In the 'After break' dialogue box, please add this string: \xa0

Step 8: Press 'OK' to close the dialogue boxes.

This should help you set up the exception for the NBSP. If you have any other questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask.
