My client has sent me a Word document that contains several tables.
They have requested me to input Chinese in the right column while keeping the English in the left column unchanged.

I think the TradosAI is hallucinating a little here!
The most appropriate way to handle this would be to copy all the English into the Chinese side, then apply the hidden text attribute to the English column. Then translate in Studio. Only the English that is now in the Chinese column will be exposed and when you complete the translation and save the target file it will be as you want.
Another way to tackle this, if the source file hadn't been "helpfully" formatted that way, would be to use this plugin:
